Habitat Explorers – Ladybirds 1 October 2018

Habitat Explorers – New Early Years Programme

A home for Ladybird

1hour Session £60 (additional sessions add £20 per hour)

With the RSPB’s “Habitat Explorers” programme, we will join Ladybird and her little friends in the search for her perfect home. Will Ladybird be happy living with Bee in her busy, buzzy hive? Or would she prefer to settle down with Woodlouse under some very mouldy leaves? Explore the grounds around your school to see who else lives there. Where will we find these little creatures, under the leaves or up in the tree?

Perhaps we’ll gently lift one and examine it close–up using a magnified pot and carefully put it back in its home again. These activities and more are introduced to young children through the beautifully illustrated story of “A Home for Ladybird”. RSPB educators bring the story to life as they lead the children outdoors on their own adventure encouraging them to look closely at minibeasts and their habitats. This RSPB outdoor learning programme provides stimulating opportunities for young children to match, sort and recognise patterns in living things, develop new vocabulary, language and thinking and increase their understanding of the natural world.
