RSPB Woodlands for Climate and Nature
Tuesday 22 September 2020
Online
The RSPB is pleased to invite you to our webinar examining the challenges and opportunities for woodland creation for climate and nature in the UK. The webinar will take place on Tuesday 22nd September at 10.00am–11.30am British Summer Time (BST).
There is a need for more trees and woodlands to meet multiple needs, including for climate, wildlife, water management, and wellbeing. It will be vital to ensure that tackling the climate crisis does not come at the expense of nature. RSPB commissioned a new report looking at the evidence around different approaches to woodland creation and its impacts on climate and nature – together with peatland restoration, plantation forestry, and the fate of carbon stored in harvested wood. This webinar showcases these findings, hearing perspectives from voices across the sector.
The webinar will be Chaired by Anne McCall – RSPB Scotland Director and we look forward to hearing from the following expert speakers:
Tom Bradfer–Lawrence – RSPB Conservation Scientist
Russell Anderson – Ecologist, Forest Research
Amanda Thomson – LULUCF GHG Inventory Lead Scientist, Centre for Ecology and Hydrology
Additional speaker tbc. from the Woodland Trust
The webinar will include opportunities for audience participation in a Q&A session.
