Ulster Wildlife Trust

The Ulster Wildlife Trust is Northern Ireland’s leading local nature conservation charity. We are the only charity in Northern Ireland committed to delivering positive action for all our local species and habitats, both on our land and in our seas. 
We manage 22 nature reserves, covering over 850 hectares of land including ancient woodland, wildflower-rich grasslands, precious peatlands and valuable wetlands. Each of these is a haven for wildlife, securing a future for our native plants and animals – and of course they are wonderful places for people too!  We are also committed to involving local people in the conservation of their wildlife and countryside – that’s why we work with businesses, landowners, politicians, local authorities, community groups and schools to promote concern and action for our natural environment.
The Ulster Wildlife Trust works across Northern Ireland to - 

• Engage with thousands of children and young people to inspire them about their natural environment and show them how they can help to protect it.

• Maintain and grow our network of nature reserves as havens for local wildlife and people.

• Protect threatened species like the red squirrel, barn owl and Irish hare.

• Work at the heart of the community helping others to boost the wildlife value of their local parks and green spaces.

• Lobby government and elected representatives to ensure that legislation and policies are in place to conserve and enhance Northern Ireland’s biodiversity.

The Ulster Wildlife Trust is one of 47 Wildlife Trusts across the UK. The Wildlife Trusts partnership is the largest UK voluntary movement dedicated to protecting the full range of our native habitats and species, with support from over 700,000 members UK-wide. Individual Wildlife Trusts work for wildlife at a local grassroots level and together we have a powerful national voice.
