Alliance Youth Works

Alliance Youth Works, Eden is a small environmental education charitable organisation that works in alliance with other agencies and organisations to bring the best environmental resources and opportunities to children, young people, disadvantaged groups and their leaders.

We run environmental education programmes in the main site of the Kilbroney Centre in Rostrevor. We deliver a suite of one day biodiversity programmes and 3 day residentials, linked to the Revised Curriculum NI. All programmes are fun, hands-on and stimulate imagination and a love of nature, as well as a desire for further learning. The education officer is available, mainly during the autumn/ winter terms, to enthuse, encourage and empower staff and pupils of local primary schools through school site visits to advise on sustainable development of, and usage and appreciation of school grounds to enhance the quality of, and knowledge and understanding of biodiversity on site. Support can simply include telephone or e-mailed advice, or the transfer of established programmes at Kilbroney to school grounds e.g. minibeast hunts, pond dipping, woodland walks, and bird watching sessions.

We have extended our delivery of environmental education programmes to 3 new sites in Loughgall, Castlewellan and Annalong, the third site being host to a new marine programme..

Programmes run on sites cost £3-50 per child. Programmes run on school grounds cost £2-50 per child plus travel expenses at £0.40 per mile. A call out fee of £30 and travel expenses will be charged for site visits to advise on development and usage of school grounds.
